With football out of the way and winter bearing in, take yourself out of the doldrums with a visit to the tropics.  Enjoy this vacation by adventuring in the rainforest, relaxing at the beach, and discovering just what makes the Costa Rican culture so pura vida!

This tour is very small and personalized.  At a maximum of 10 participants, you’ll get dedicated attention from your local bilingual guide and be treated to many things off limits to larger groups.  No tour provides this combination of activities, touching different aspects of the country all while keeping you relaxed and “on vacation” at all times.

Costs: 

$1,700  $1,600/person if paid in full by Nov. 15th (single occupancy)

Day 1 (Dinner)

San Ramon Catholic Church

▪ Depart for warm, sunny Costa Rica.  Arrive in Alajuela where a Dustin will be  waiting to transport you to beautiful San Ramón.  Get settled and treat yourself to some comfort food for dinner!

▪ Location: San Ramón

Day 2 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

▪ Start your morning off with a bright and early sunrise walk to the town lookout point.  To get your bearings of the city.  Or not.  You can also sleep in and enjoy an authentic Tico (Costa Rican) breakfast and then take some time to explore San Ramon,     

▪ If you’ve never seen hundreds of thousands of endangered species in one place, be prepared for this afternoon activity.  Due to rapid deforestation, primary rainforest is a scarce world commodity.  You’ll have the chance to hike this forest and see these mammoth carbon gobblers and the life they provide to other species.  This hike is of moderate difficulty, however access is easy and you may hike as much or as little as you want.

Day 3 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

▪ Today’s docket is chuck full of adventure and activity, starting early with a zip line canopy tour. mom and daughter zipline Here you’ll fly through the rainforest suspended by a cable with only  nature to guide you.  Later, we’ll stop at Dustin’s original Costa Rican host family (2006) for lunch and a look at how subsistence farming has evolved over time.  Finally, we’ll close out the night soaking in the hot springs at the base of the Arenal volcano.

Day 4 (Breakfast)

▪ Free day to choose your own adventure.  There are many things to do in the area and activities can be had for all ages.  High octane rafting, volcano/waterfall hiking, or casual activities such as bird watching, boating/kayaking, or educational visits to area producers.  Please note these tours are excluded from tour package, however most include lunch.

▪ After your tour, take some time to relax and then be on your own to find something to your liking in La Fortuna.

▪ Location: La Fortuna

Day 5 (Breakfast, Dinner)

Did I say interesting?

▪ Today we make the forest to beach transition.  As the day progresses you’ll notice more heat, more sun, and eventually, more saltiness.

▪ We’ll head back down south in the morning, passing through San Ramon on our way to the Pacific

coast.  We’ll throw in a few stops to keep it interesting along the way.

▪ Starting at check-in, you’ll have the next 3 nights to enjoy the resort.  Nestled near the coast, you’re never far from the beach, restaurant, pool, or bar.

Day 6-7 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)sunset punta leona

▪ Beach time!  Lounge the day away, participate in resort activities, or book area tours if you absolutely must get off the resort.  Some tours/activities may have an additional cost and our not included in tour package.

▪ Location: Central Pacific

Day 8 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

▪ Take one last dip in the ocean and grab an early lunch (or brunch) at the resort, then pack up and begin the journey back to the Central Valley.

  • On the way back from the beach we’ll make a stop at a wild animal rescue center.  These centers receive rainforest animals that have been injured or illegally taken from the forest with the hope to be able to release them into the wild again.  25% of Costa Rica is designated as a protected area, however, there isn’t any government funding for these kinds of centers.  Here we’ll see parrots, monkeys, and sloths.

Day 10 (Breakfast)

▪ In the morning you’ll have time for breakfast, some last second souvenirs, coffee, and a sunrise walk for the bold and brave.  Transfers will be arranged to the airport and just like that your tour has come to an end.  We really hope you  enjoyed your stay and would love to host you again in the future.  ¡Pura vida!
